Inheritance, a multifaceted concept intertwined with cultural identity, takes center stage in the vibrant realm of Dancehall. This thesis delves into the interplay of inheritance and tradition within Jamaican Dancehall, illuminating the profound significance of nightly history lessons. Through interviews, family archives, and cultural traditions, this thesis aims to answer the question: "How do I inherit sonic sound?" With the speaker as a figurative tool for imparting knowledge, but also as an agent of disruption within the realm of cultural inheritance, this thesis is an exploration of the spaces between—where inheritance intersects with tradition, and where the sounds of the past resonate vibrantly in the present.
